But there are many theories. One popular conspiracy says that early pharmaceutical companies had cannabis banned for competitive reasons, as the plant was easy to grow and provided medicinal benefits with fewer side-effects than pharmaceuticals. Others theories suggest that it was to limit the amount of imports with certain countries that could grow cannabis.
Whatever the reason, its officially legal now and generally accepted norm by many westerners.
